David Stern sailed on his first cruise in 1980, and immediately fell in love with cruising.  He soon began working as an outside sales agent for a friend's travel agency.  In 1991, he formed Starshine Travel, and later enrolled in Cruise Lines International Association's Agent Certification Program, where he earned an Accredited Cruise Counselor designation (similar to a college bachelor's degree). David also earned a B.S. degree in Marketing from New York University and an MBA degree in Finance from Fordham University. He has sailed on 45 cruises, on 22 different ships, operated by 7 cruise lines.

Starshine Travel, Inc. is authorized by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) to sell cruise vacations for all of its member cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Princess Cruises.  We also book land based vactions to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Las Vegas.

We also offer cruise consulting services. For a small fee, we will be happy to review reservations that you made online to make sure that you did not overlook anything and that you received the proper pricing. You may avoid this fee by transfering a reservation you made directly with a cruise line to our agency.  Please contact us for details.

Starshine Travel, Inc. has been in business since 1991 and is a travel agency member of CLIA. Our cruise counselors are accredited by CLIA, have taken numerous training courses, and have personally sailed aboard more than 100 cruises.

We also inspect ships routinely to make sure that they meet our client's high standards. As a Vacation.com member agency, we are also able to provide you with special promotions on many sailings that non-affiliated agencies cannot.

Starshine Travel, Inc. is a small, privately owned agency. We take the time to answer your questions and advise you about shipboard activities, shore excursions, etc. We take cruises every year so we know what we're selling you. Just for fun, you might want to call one of the giant cruise vendors and ask the operator who takes your call when he or she last cruised. Ask when they were last aboard the ship that they are trying to sell you. Ask what beach to go to in St. Thomas or what shore excursion they liked best in Cozumel. It's quite possible that they've never even stepped foot aboard a cruise ship. Then call us at

Our goal is to provide you with sound advice so that you choose the right ship and itinerary for your vacation. We know that if we treat you right, you'll book your next trip with us, and recommend us to your friends and relatives. In order to accomplish this, we'll take all the time you need to explain all your options. And we won't try to sell you what you don't want or don't need. Why spend $200 more for the identical cabin just because it's two decks higher? We'd rather you save the money and take an extra shore excursion or two while in the islands.
